loving-kindness

I always have a hard time listening to exercises because I am easily distracted by things going on in my home. I do try to pick a time when I know I can fully concentrate on what I am going to be listening to. This week I listened to loving-kindness and I found it to be both beneficial and difficult. It was beneficial because it allowed me to have time to connect with myself not trying to reach a goal of becoming relaxed and then coming back to my present state. I also found it difficult because I as I do my readings or listening exercises I find more and more ways to help shape not only myself mentally but spiritually as well. With this in my mind during my daily routine I often find myself not doing what I just learned I should try implementing. I get so caught up in the moment I totally forget about the stages of starting my path to human flourishing. I often am left very disappointed that I did not try harder to add these simple techniques into my daily life! A mental workout is basically training your mind like you would your body to help get it in its top working order. The benefits of a mental workout are having your mind run more like a well oiled machine. It is not full of constant chatter you are more focused and goal oriented. You do not fill your head with useless thoughts or things that do not pertain to the good of yourself or others. You are more in-tune with yourself and your surroundings. I feel can help implement a mental workout into my life to help foster my psychological health by learning to get rid of unneeded mental chatter and remained focused on a goal until its complete and by having the ability to not only do good for myself but stretch it out onto others.
