loving-kindness

I always have a hard time listening to exercises because I am easily distracted by things going on in my home. I do try to pick a time when I know I can fully concentrate on what I am going to be listening to. This week I listened to loving-kindness and I found it to be both beneficial and difficult. It was beneficial because it allowed me to have time to connect with myself not trying to reach a goal of becoming relaxed and then coming back to my present state. I also found it difficult because I as I do my readings or listening exercises I find more and more ways to help shape not only myself mentally but spiritually as well. With this in my mind during my daily routine I often find myself not doing what I just learned I should try implementing. I get so caught up in the moment I totally forget about the stages of starting my path to human flourishing. I often am left very disappointed that I did not try harder to add these simple techniques into my daily life! A mental workout is basically training your mind like you would your body to help get it in its top working order. The benefits of a mental workout are having your mind run more like a well oiled machine. It is not full of constant chatter you are more focused and goal oriented. You do not fill your head with useless thoughts or things that do not pertain to the good of yourself or others. You are more in-tune with yourself and your surroundings. I feel can help implement a mental workout into my life to help foster my psychological health by learning to get rid of unneeded mental chatter and remained focused on a goal until its complete and by having the ability to not only do good for myself but stretch it out onto others.

My personal wellbeing

I would have to say that my personal wellbeing is different in each part. I would rate my physical wellbeing is about a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. This is because I still am trying to obtain management of my Ankylosing Spondylitis. I tend to have more bad days then good days recently, but there is enough out there to help me find an appropriate method of management for myself. My Spiritual is a 10 out of 10 because I always have faith in myself and in the unknown. I also try very hard to exert positivity outwards into the universe to obtain positivity back. Psychologically I would say that it is an 8 because I do try to be very self aware of controlling racing needless thoughts and about what is going on in my environment and how it is affecting me. I do at certain times become stressed out and I am still trying to learn how to take better control of the stress I feel. I think goals for me to put in place for me to boost my ratings would be to keep learning ways to keep flare ups with my AS at bay and to keep doing what I am doing for myself spiritually. Psychologically I could incorporate more times of silence when I feel stress to help let me distress. I also could learn different techniques when obtaining moments of silence is not possible. The audio on relaxation I would have to say is not my favorite because of the gentleman's voice. I also feels he repeats himself too much which leads to aggravation to me, and he does to much detailed speaking. To me it becomes very agitating and frustrating to me. It actually ends up making me tense up instead of relax.

Relaxation technique

Hello everyone!

I personally think that at one point or another everyone can benefit from some form of guided relaxation or meditation. Imagine you had a really stressful day at work and you just can't seem to let it go once you get home, well this sort of thing would be perfect for you! I happen to really enjoy forms of guided relaxation techniques or guided meditation. As long as the person speaking has a soothing voice and the directions do not require much in depth thinking I really enjoy them. I liked this particular exercise, but I would have to say that at the end when he kept saying about imagining the blood going back to your core that did get a little bit redundant. I would have to say I am more receptive to a man's voice than a woman's voice when it comes to these techniques. I imagine it is because men have the ability to capture one's attention when speaking directly with a deep voice. I would definitely use something like this in my future profession along with some others that I have come across on my own!
